• The body that maintains the North American well-numbering standard reports that the identifier is simultaneously the chief means of linking well data and one of the primary causes of missing or incorrectly integrated well data.
• Retrieval by similarity cannot answer questions requiring completeness or traversal — published work states that both database-query and retrieval-augmented approaches fail to achieve exhaustive evidence collection.
• But structure is not automatically better: in one evaluation an ontology graph without its underlying source text scored 15% against 60% for plain vector search.
